Alps22: Join our ‘Jamboree in the Mountains’

Date: 16th Mar 2021 Author: Web Master

An overseas trip! Yes, tell me more!

Webinar launch: 14 April at 8pm

Berkshire Scouts’ Jamboree in the Mountains – Alps22 – is coming and we’re looking for Units and volunteers to join us on this exciting event: a mix of traditional jamboree with a modern twist and plenty of adventure.

There’s no denying that it’s been a challenging twelve months, but we’re seeing some light at the end of the tunnel – and think we’re long overdue something to which we can all look forward. Alps22 is the perfect tonic and we’re delighted to bring it to Explorers and Scout Networks across the county in August 2022 (COVID-19 restrictions permitting).

The Hautes-Alpes in France will provide the perfect setting for a wide range of activities that we know will appeal to young people in the 14-25 age range.

For the adrenaline junkies we have activities such as canyoning and white-water rafting; for the intrepid among us there is hiking and climbing; for the culture vultures there will be opportunities to discover the local villages, learn the language and take excursions to places of interest. And, of course, there will also be plenty of down time to enjoy the social side of a jamboree too!

The event will take place over 10 days during the last two weeks of August ’22 and will be open to all Explorer Units and Network aged people in Berkshire.

You’ve got my attention – where do I sign up?

We’re looking for a range of people to join us on this adventure – from Explorers and Network (14-25 year olds in August 2022) to adult skills instructors, volunteers and other leaders to help make the event a reality.

We will be officially launching the event with a webinar on April 14th at 8pm. Please register your interest in attending the webinar via this link.

If you’re keen but this date doesn’t work for you, we will be recording the session and if there is sufficient demand, we will run a second webinar. So please still register your interest but tick the box to say you cannot make the date. The webinar is for anyone – unit leaders, young people or adults interested in joining the team delivering the event.

We look forward to seeing lots of you in April to get the Alpine planning well and truly underway!
