The Role of the Group Executive Committee

Each Scout Group has an Executive Committee, their role is to support the Group Scout Leader and be responsible for the maintenance of Group property (including the hut), raising funds and admin of the Group’s finance. Also, insurance of people, property, and equipment. The committee comprises of a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Leaders, and parent representatives.

We always need parent representatives on the committee and currently could do with help on fund raising – this will be essential if we are to make progress with our plans for the new hut. Historically 1st Crowthorne has been a very social group with many activities organised to raise money and provide fun at the same time.

Our committee usually meets around 6 times a year including the Annual General Meeting. New Exec. members are expected to submit to DBS checks and undertake the “getting started” and GDPR training online.

If you have any experience of fund raising or applying for grants, we would like to hear from you, please make yourself known to the GSL or Group Chair if you would like to be involved.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
