We need YOU!!!

Hi everyone – its fantastic news that at long last – things are getting back to normal

1st Crowthorne is now one of the biggest groups in the Country with over 150 members and a growing waiting list.

There is a lot more that we can do, but  to put it simply – we are help

For anyone on the WAITING LIST – we will move you straight to the top of the waiting list ….

Our BIGGEST need right now is people who can help with having fun – we need people who can organise activities that help raise money, or help arrange social activities like BBQs

We’ve lost our on £10k of Income during Covid and we need to refill the coffers ..   even if we don’t move ahead with a new hut, we face a £25k maintenance backlog on the hut – toilets, kitchen, insulation, heating system, stores, new equipment etc.      I have tried to kick start this but with COVID we lost momentum – We need Parents with a passion for raising money and having FUN to volunteer to help build a team ..    let’s have some fun!  [Did I mention fun?]


  • COMMUNICATION – We urgently need volunteers to help with each section – particularly the CUBS and the SCOUTS in sending out the weekly program to parents – its takes no more than 30 minutes a week – but this small role has a HUGE benefit to leaders
  • Parent Rota – with some of the Leader Shortages – we will need to restart the Parent Rota we’ll have it in OSM but will also put out a call for help on email or Facebook  …. www.facebook.com/groups/1stCrowthorneScoutGroup/  We will need one or two parents – Especially for WEDNESDAY Cubs and TUESDAY Scouts – EVERY WEEK.   We don’t like to ask .. but we really do need you guys 🙂
  • Help with the Hut – We need people with skills at managing projects, or people can manage the 5-10 year maintence plan – but we also need people who can help painting and decorating, or gardening ..  or anyone that wants to “manage” the Fire Circle …     basically .. if you have a skill and the time ..  let us know!
  • Parent Reps on the ExCo – The Executive Committee – or ExCo ..  is the body that effectively runs the Charitable side of the Group – the buildings, fundraising, maintenance, etc.     We are one of the only groups in the County that doesn’t have any PARENT Reps on the ExCo and we want to fix that – in part because we need to hear the voice of parents .. and in part because there are a lot of parents out there with skills that we can use .  it’s NOT a uniformed role 🙂   The ExCo meetings once to twice a term for an hour or two.   Normally online, sometime at the hut, increasingly in a pub.

Our group is STRONG, we are GROWING and we have amazing Leaders and Parents ..    COVID has hit us ALL hard.    We’ll be announcing the date for a social for everyone very soon.  – a gathering at the hut ..  a BBQ, fire, fund, food and drink …   just for us all to reconnect
