Can you make a difference to someone's life?

Scouts are do-ers... and give-it-a-go-ers.

Can you inspire the quiet child in the corner to be the builder of the best rocket? or surprises the group by hitting a bullseye on their first attempt at Archery? Or perhaps your skills are “beinhd the scenes” – keeping parents informed, or help with fun events for everyone to joy.

You dont need to become a Leader,  You don’t need to be Bear Grylls to join us. You don’t need to have been a Scout when you were younger. You don’t even need to know how to put up a tent. Its not about volunteering to be a “Leader” … its about having the passion, the determination to give it go!

There’s lots of ways you can get more involved with Scouts as a parent, carer or family member.

From helping out occasionally on a rota or playing a vital role behind the scenes, to stepping up as a leader, our volunteering activities are as varied as you. We’re talking tidy uppers and tea makers, session planners and fire builders, fundraisers and treasurers, and all round team players to support our young people.

The good news is you shape what you do and the time you have to give. Scouts happens when a lot of us give a little (and no, you don’t have to be a Scout or outdoors expert to volunteer).

Its not just about being a leader – EVERY role done by EVERY Volunteer makes a difference.    From the Executive, to the Stores, to fundraising and communications.   EVERY role is important

We’re Scouts and everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Every week we give almost half a million people aged 6-25 the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

We question and listen and form wide open minds. We take a deep breath and speak up. We think on our feet. See the big picture. Ignore the butterflies and go for it. We get back up and try again. We think about what’s next, and plan for it. We jump in, get muddy, give back and get set.

That’s where you come in.

What to expect

  • A warm welcome
  • Flexibility to get involved in a way that works for you
  • Easy access to training and resources online
  • Friendly ongoing support from local volunteers

No two weeks are the same, but the impact you make is always great.

Our door is open to people of all ages, genders, races and backgrounds, and we’re only able to change lives because people like you lend a hand. We’re talking about tea makers, tidy-uppers and skill sharers. We’re talking about mini bus drivers and first aiders. We’re talking about students who want to boost their CV, and parents who volunteer so they can spend more time together as a family.

Whatever your skillset, lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll get more out than you put in. Because whether you’re helping a leader to run an activity in the local town hall, organising a night away, or buttering 120 slices of bread a group of very hungry eleven year olds – no two Scout meetings are the same. The difference you make, though, is always great.

We provide the training. You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life.

Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
